Queensland Outback Holiday Accommodation
Queensland Outback; This is where you begin to understand just how big Australia really is. Queensland outback holidays will almost certainly include old bush pubs, country hospitality and pioneering spirit. The Queensland Outback is a huge area stretching almost 3000 km from the New South Wales border in the south up into the Gulf Country in the north and across to the Northern Territory border in the west. We love sharing the Queensland outback with those who haven’t yet had the chance to visit it. The Queensland outback abounds in natural character, distinction and stories of the difficulties encountered over time by our primary producers and the man on the land. Hospitality in the Queensland outback is world-renowned and a stay at either a B&B or farm stay is an experience that will provide first hand knowledge of the area and a real taste of rural hospitality. The diverse Queensland Outback landscape supports a surprising array of birdlife. The Queensland Outback certainly lives up to its promise to be Larger Than Life.
The Outback is known for being an action-packed holiday destination. Queensland's Outback is a vast, rugged and splendid region, spanning an area of some 832,000 square kilometres in Western Queensland.
Today, sealed and well sign posted roads, a large range of accommodation options, comprehensive day tours and modern facilities make exploring the Outback more comfortable than ever imagined by its early pioneers. Accommodation in such a vast area as west Queensland includes hotels, motels and caravan parks.

Charters Towers
Charters Towers is located 130 kilometres southwest of Townsville in North Queensland at the junction of the Flinders Highway Townsville to Tennant Creek via Mt Isa), the Lynd Highway (from Undarra Lava Tubes to Charters Towers) and the Gregory Developmental Road (from Emerald to Lynd Junction via Belyando Crossing). With an altitude of 336 metres we enjoy an excellent climate with comfortably cool nights and less humidity than the coastal regions. Charters Towers is renowned for its World heritage listed buildings and mining history but today it's main industries are gold mining, beef and education (with five world recognised boarding schools). All facilities are available in town including hospital, banks, shops, mechanics, theatres, clubs, cinemas, drive-in theatre, sporting venues, tourist attractions and parks.
Dalrymple Tourist Van Park Charters Towers (Caravan Park)
We wish to invite you to stay at our park in Charters Towers, the Dalrymple Tourist Van Park. You’ll find us on the northern entrance to town, on the Lynd Highway and yet only 1.8 kilometres north of the Information Centre and city centre. As you may have to pass other caravan parks to get to us, we will go the extra mile for you and ensure your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. We have all of the features you have a right to expect- spotlessly clean amenities, ensuited fully self contained cabins, grass and slab powered sites, large camping area, sparkling saltwater pool with wading pool, jumping pillow, covered camp kitchen and BBQs, dump point, kiosk and plenty of room for large rigs.
For you to keep in touch or let your friends know about your holiday, we have wireless broadband access throughout the park and a 24 hour accessible internet kiosk in the camp kitchen. We also offer post, fax and photocopying facilities. There is a public phone on site and mobile reception is available. Even after we’ve got all that right, we want to do more so we organise social events throughout the winter season, including Devonshire teas and evening campfires where you can sit around and yarn to your heart’s content. Watch the birds in our aviary and if you’re a pet owner, we welcome your pet (as long as you’re all well behaved, of course).
Charters Towers Golf Course is right next door and we hire golf equipment- including golf buggies. To relieve those muscles after a brisk walk or a long drive, we have the only sauna in Charters Towers. It’s wood-fired and cedar lined- and it’s the easiest way of working up a sweat that we know of! When you want to get out and about, we give a free booking service and information for local attractions. Discounts are given for Family Parks members and those who have a Seniors card (only one discount applies). So, consider yourself invited to experience our wonderfully warm hospitality and ideal facilities at the Dalrymple Tourist Van Park.
