Barmah is a small town of 200 people on the Murray River 3 hours north of Melbourne, 45 minutes north of Shepparton and only 20 minutes east of Echuca. This comfortable four bedroom fully self contained home at 30 Riverview Drive can accommodate up to eight people.

Reception Information:

Because we live in this area we do suggest. That you bring an insect repellant. There are snakes in the area like most other areas in Australia! Be aware. Given the right weather conditions it is easy to become dehydrated. Carry liquids to drink. If you are going off the beaten track please ensure you have a compass and a map. Inform someone where you intend going and when you intend to return. The area is vast and if you leave the beaten track it is easy to become lost.

There is also plenty of room for car and boat parking.

Things to do:

Barmah State Forest and Wetlands is on the eastern edge of the town and is the start of the 21,000 hectare redgum forest. The largest redgum forest in the world has many walking tracks that emanate from near the Kingfisher Cruises mooring and the Dharnya Cultural Center. There are also many tracks along the rivers edge with some magnificent river redgums along the way. Bird Watchers - spread your wings and explore the Central Murray Avian/Corridor. Barmah is located on the S.E. fringe of this unique bird watching area which embraces the three shires of Balranald, Wakool, and Murray - All within easy reach of Barmah. There are over 200 species of birds in the immediate area and because Barmah is a quiet town you are able to spot many of these in close proximity. Brochures with full details of the area and the bird species you will see are available. Here are just a few of these bird species.

Local Attractions:

The town and its people are very relaxed and friendly. Traffic is slow & low. From Barmah Holiday House it's a 300m walk along the river's edge to the milk bar/grocery store and hotel - where meals are served from Thursday to Sunday, Lunch is from 12:30pm & dinner from 8:00pm. There is no supermarket in Barmah.
