Derwent Retreat is fully furnished comfortably appointed modern house located on the Derwent River to the immediate north of Austins Ferry Yacht club and the launching ramp at the end of Austins Ferry Road. Derwent Retreat is on a large allotment with absolute waterfront gardens. All main rooms are fully furnished and have wonderful views of the Derwent River and Mount Wellington. Derwent Retreat is close to a shopping centre, the Glenorchy and Hobart CBD's, some of Tasmania?s largest employers and the best tourist attractions north of Hobart. The property is fully furnished, has three bedrooms and two bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen and laundry, barbecue, towels, linen, TV, etc. It sleeps up to eight adults and one baby and all rooms have majestic views of the river and Mt Wellington. A portacot is available on request. It has a large garden, small basketball court (for non professionals!) and many natural rock features. Derwent Retreat is rented short to medium term at competitive rates and is suitable for business people looking for somewhere to stay, a retreat or quiet place to work or holiday makers keen on sampling the many attractions that the Hobart region is famous for.

Derwent Retreat is a luxurious modern house 15 minutes from Hobart and 5 mins from Mona with absolute waterfront situated on Stoney point at the site of the original Hestercombe Inn built by George Govett who ran a ferry across the Derwent from Austins Ferry in the 1820's. Derwent Retreat is close to a shopping centre, the Glenorchy and Hobart CBD's, some of Tasmania?s largest employers and the best tourist attractions north of Hobart. From Derwent retreat it is 20 minutes to the Hobart CBD and 10 minutes to the Glenorchy CBD.

Derwent Retreat is a luxury house by the water at Austins Ferry about 12 km out of Hobart in Tasmania The property sleeps up to eight people and one baby and the bedding configuration is: Master Bedroom - Queen size bed Bedroom - Double bed Bedroom - Two single beds Two folding beds Portacot (Babies under two stay for free) The sofas are very comfortable! Derwent Retreat can be booked for a minimum of two nights for and the base rate covers two people. Young mobile children or others that require supervision must be supervised by an adult. Our properties are not designed for wheel chairs. Pets are not allowed inside at any of our properties. Smoking inside is prohibited.

Included in the published rate is 2 adults. (Maximum occupancy - 8 guests). Of the extra guests 6 may be an adult.
Cancellations:
Cancellations must be by email with read receipt, by telephone or in person during business hours. No refund is available for the base rate. The balance may be refundable at our discretion depending on how close to the booked date cancellation accompanied by application for refund is made. Any amount paid is available for an alternative booking date if available. Charges we have incurred are never refundable.
The administration fee on refunds is AU$30.00

Rental rates start at $100 per night for up to 2 persons. $ 30 extra per additional person. Minimum stay 2 nights. No special facilities for infants other than a portacot. Derwent Retreat is on a large allotment and has off-street parking is available for a number of vehicles.
Things to do:
Derwent Retreat is surrounded by parks and the riiver and associated activites. There is ample opportunity for walking in or around the parks with great views and a number of nearby historic sites Also on or adjacent to the property are a basketball court (non professionals only), swimming or fishing in the Derwent, boating or just walking in the parks. If you bring a bike you can use it!
Local Attractions:
The Derwent provides opportunities for white water canoeing or jet boating further upstream at the historic town of New Norfolk or enjoy a more relaxing time playing golf or bowling at local clubs. Cadburys, Moorilla, Richmond, Salmon Ponds, Alpenrail and Bonorong Wildlife Park are all family favourites and close to Derwent Retreat Southern Tasmania is endowed with every activity possible including jet boating skiing, mountain climbing, walking, snorkelling, surfing, fishing etc. Maybe you just want to snooze on a beach. All are within an hour or so of Derwent Retreat. For those who like dining, night clubbing or gambling, Hobart?s inner suburbs of North Hobart and Salamanca are just a 15 - 20 minute drive away and Australia?s first licensed casino, Wrest Point is just a 20 minute drive away. Salamanca market is a must on Saturday and Moorilla winery is very close to spend the afternoon listening to jazz and tasting their wares. Book a tour of the Cadbury chocolate factory and indulge in chocolates, visit Alpenrail or Richmond, Salmon Ponds, or Bonorong Wildlife Park. All are within easy reach of Derwent Retreat.
Getting There:
To get to Derwent Retreat find your way onto the Main Road in the Claremont/Austins Ferry area and follow it north or south as the case may be to Austins Ferry. Austins Ferry Road is opposite the stone gates to historic Roseneath Park. Turn down Austins Ferry Road towards the water and follow the road to the end of the parks on both sides of the road. Turn left at the end of the road and drive through the car park to the yacht club and launching area and you will see Derwent Retreat on the point in front of you.
