Local Attractions:

McLaren Vale is situated 42 klms South of Adelaide CBD ?.. A premier wine making region with a reputation growing so fast, that even the locals find it hard to keep up with the pace !.... but we pride ourselves on our ?small town feel? and work hard to maintain it. A pleasant drive 40 klms further South is Victor Harbor , a favourite spot for tourists, with its history as a whaling station and the famous Granite Island, ?.home to more than 2,000 little penguins which can be seen on guided tours. The island is accessed by a causeway which can be walked or traversed by the famous horse drawn tram. There is a very renowned wildlife park called Urimbirra situated on the Main South road as one approaches Victor Harbor ?? it is an excellent example of native animal preservation. Only 8 minutes drive to the west from McLaren Vale is Maslin Beach?.. a true ?country beach?.. great for an early morning dip or just a quiet walk??.. the same goes for the evenings, when one can relax and watch the sun set in the waters of Gulf St Vincent ? perhaps with a picnic basket and a glass of local vino!.... A very pleasant 40 minute drive west through vines and forests will lead guests to the historic village of Handorf. in the Adelaide hills ?. A lovely mix of craft & shopping? local produce , and dining experiences. Depending on the season, there are local producers in and around McLaren Vale who provide the experience of picking your own fruit?and berries too numerous to mention?? plus avocadoes?. Every Saturday, the Willunga Farmers Market is held, and there are many craft markets within short driving distance on different dates. Nearby are such experiences as ?The Protea Farm? ? ?The ?Begonia Farm??????.. ?Ross Roses? ?The Lavender Farm?.. Kookaburra Trout Farm? etc. etc?. For lovers of bushwalking, we have the rugged but beautiful Onkaparinga Gorge on our doorstep and for the less adventurous, Kuitpo (pronounced Kypo) Forest is 10 minutes away where mobs of kangaroos abound, and locals go ?mushrooming??.. This could go on forever !.... so why not just ask your hosts where to go after you get settled in?...
