Location:

Wisemans Ferry was on the original route linking Sydney with the Hunter region. Part of the Old Great North Road, built by convict labour in the early 1800's, still exists today and is a wonderful example of Australia's early heritage. One Soloman Wiseman obtained the contract to feed the convicts and gave his name to the ferry that crosses the Hawkesbury River, free of charge, every day of the year.

The Retreat is one of the few venues in NSW that offers genuine dedicated conference facilities. The owner of the Retreat, Barry Topple, is an experienced trainer and really understands the special needs of conference organisers and facilitators. Our conference complex was designed as a specialist facility - not as a multi-purpose building that could be used for meetings one day, a wedding the next, followed by a dinner. The hi-tech centre is fully air-conditioned and has an abundance of natural light but with full blackout facilities. High speed data links to external data sources can be networked throughout the centre via specially designed floor boxes.

Things to do:

Our picturesque 9 hole course lines the banks of the Hawkesbury and must be one of the prettiest courses in NSW and it has the advantage of being an easy walk. It is a course that can be enjoyed by all standards of golfer. But it also has its challenges and is regularly used for competitions. The tree-lined fairways place a premium on accuracy and the alternative tees provide an extra challenge for the back 9. Our staff will be pleased to help you with club hire and buggy hire. We also have 2 floodlit, all-weather tennis courts so you can play at any time. The 25m saltwater swimming pool is another favourite and the toddlers' pool is ideal for the youngsters. Other facilities include: Beach volleyball - not quite Bondi, but just as much fun Croquet - the sometimes not so genteel sport on the Retreat's Village Green Blaxland Massage and Beauty Salon - to really indulge yourself Exercise room - for the early morning workout Games room - with pool, table tennis and darts for the late night workout! Or you can relax in the beautiful gardens with a good book or pamper yourself with a massage.
