In the Stables Villa a billiard table and juke box add to the club feeling of the lounge room. Other Facilities Nearly eight acres of formal gardens with groomed pathways invite guests to explore the beautiful grounds. Scattered through the gardens are tables, chairs and garden benches creating sitting spots for reading and relaxing. Mona CMHs gourmet picnic basket can be supplied. There is an all-weather tennis court set amidst the gardens. Rambling climbing roses decorate the tennis court surround. Complimentary rackets and balls are available. Next to the tennis court is a rotunda with table and chairs for spectators or a refreshment break for the players. The Roman Plunge/Spa Pool in the Bathhouse has three stepped levels of massaging jets and can seat up to 16 comfortably. In winter the water temperature is heated to 36 degrees and a comfortable 28 degrees in summer. There is a separate change area with double shower and toilet hidden behind the fountain facade. The croquet lawn boasts the spectacular position beside the lake next to the bridge. With a protected, westerly facing aspect, croquet can be played until just after dusk. The hoops and winning posts are left in place. Mallets and balls are kept at reception. Instructions for How to Play are summarised in the Guest Information Folder. Hosts Greg and Kerry Schneider are available to assist with game play when required. The stone bridge was commissioned by the owners in 1998 to link the formal gardens with the greater landscape. Based on a design by Italian architect Palladio, the five arch stone bridge, creates a beautiful entrance to the formal grounds. Crossing the main drive is an intersect road. To the east this road leads to the eagle on a rock and the Leylandii forest. The eagle was purchased from Toby Evans Antiques in the Hunter Valley. Toby Evans imported two of these eagles from China. The other was purchased by Wolf Blass for his winery. The Leylandii forest of 800 trees was planted to dampen the noise from the Kings Hwy and to provide a private and protected area for picnics. To the west there is a folly with commanding views of the entire property. Guests enjoy exploring these larger areas. At the Kings Highway entrance to the property there is a walking/jogging track lined with Quercis Ilex that follows the property's town perimeter and returns to the formal gardens via the Monet footbridge. The total graded pathways are 4.5 kilometres, perfect for a long brisk walk or reflective stroll. A champagne sunset horse and carriage ride around the township is a delightful and tranquil experience. Although preferred during the summer months, warm blankets are provided for those who brave this in the winter. The carriage can be enclosed to protect from rain. Nature experiences include garden walks, platypus watching, bird watching and duck feeding. There are several dining options for guests: - Self catering. Some guests have even cancelled their restaurant reservation, to cook in the gourmet kitchen of the Coachhouse. - A two or three course dinner can be prepared and delivered to the villa ready for serving. - There is a selection of dining options in the township of Braidwood just one kilometre away. A horse and carriage restaurant transfer can be booked. - For those celebrating a special event such as a wedding anniversary or birthday a Blue Room dinner can be booked. The Blue Room is a private formal dining room in the Mona Function Centre catering for up to 20. An atmospheric cellar with panelling and special lighting is stocked with vintage and regional wines. Guests are able to visit the cellar and select a special wine to accompany their meal. Massages can be arranged by appointment and are usually conducted in the quiet and warm environment of the bathhouse. All of the abovementioned pleasures mean it is hard for guests to leave and so Mona CMH routinely offers a 3 pm check-out.
