Ideally located for exploring Australia's Green Cauldron and many National Parks, Byron and Tweed Hinterland Villages, Crabbes Creek Cottages offers a quiet rural and bush environment for couples, families and groups.

The mostly native gardens are a delight to explore and guests can enjoy an abundance of birds and wildlife. There are 2 dams and the creek meanders through rainforest. A Landcare Project was completed in 2008 to ensure flora and fauna flourish.

Six very privateself-contained cottages are spread over 20 acres; there is also a 3 bedroom house, self-contained adjacent flat and a 2+ bedroom converted cow bails, which make the property ideal for small weddings and special occasions.

There are many fine restaurants closeby - at Billinudgel, Mooball, Bunswick Heads, Byron Bay, Murwillumbah and , of course the clubs in Tweed Heads and those in Coolangatta.

Attractions and activities abound for all ages - fishing, surfing, craft galleries, local markets, Macadamia Castle, Crystal Castle, Catch-A-Crab, Tweed Regional Art Gallery, houseboats, kayaking, horse riding - too many to list!

Brunswick Heads is approx. 10 mins south and Byron Bay 15 mins south on M1. Murwillumbah is 20 mins north. Gold Coast Airport 30 mins north. Brisbane, depending on roadworks & traffic, 90 mins north.

Location:

Crabbes Creek is a rural village 22kms south of Murwillumbah and 20 kms north of Byron Bay. It is the most southern village in the Tweed Shire.

The most direct beach is Wooyung.

The Cottages are 2.74 kms down Crabbes Creek Road - over 3 creek crossings and after a green colorbond garage on right - the next driveway on right is Reception. Detailed directions sent on request.

Cancellations made on the day of arrival or no-shows will be charged at least one full night's tariff. Guests may transfer dates is availability allows.

The administration fee on refunds is AU$30.00

Reception has a wealth of local tourist information, brochures and local knowledge. A limited supply of food and personal items are for sale at cost for the convenience of guests.

Car Parking:

All cottages have their own car space. the property is secured by electonic gates.

Things to do:

Picnic, BBQ, play ball games, feed turtles and ducks. Star gaze, identify the plants and birds. Walk to General Store, bicycle the local area. Just unwind and relax.

Local Attractions:

Whalewatching (May to October) and deep-sea fishing (October to May). Pristine beaches within minutes. Byron Bay 15-20 minutes away. Local craft and farm markets close by every weekend. National parks - the area is within Australia's Green Cauldron, one of 10 National icons. Tweed Art Gallery, a must see for everyone - the location is superb. Cafe overlooking the hills and river.

Getting There:

From NORTH, there are several routes - 1) the coast road through Pottsville to Wooyung - turn right once over timber bridge near entrance to old Pacific Highway (now Tweed Valley Way), then first left is Crabbes BCrek Road. 2) the scenic route , Tweed Valley Way over the Burringbar Ranges, through village of Mooball and next village on right is Crabbes Creek. 3) the quickest - down M1 Freeway to exit Yelgun Rest Area, keep left, turn left onto Tweed Valley Way and once in Tweed Shire, turn left into Crabbes Creek Road. From SOUTH, exit M1 after Billinudgel exit - take Murwillumbah scenic route 41 exit, over Freeway keep left, turn left onto Tweed Valley Way - as in #3 above.
