Location:

The Art House is a home away from home. Located the country town of Gloucester, known as the Base Camp for Barrington Tops. On an acre of land and being adjacent to a park with the Gloucester River flowing through the backyard it gives the impression of being remote without being more than five minutes from the shops. Gloucester is located in the Upper Hunter Region of NSW, a pleasant 3 hour drive from Sydney or 1 hour from the Hunter Valley. The village is surrounded by two mountain ranges and mainly beef growing and timber area with an abundance of rivers for fishing and canoeing. Barrington Tops is a world listed heritage area much like Tasmania but only 1 hour drive from the Art House. If you feel like a walk along the beach, the seaside town of Foster is only an hour drive away along the scenic Bucketts Way. Come and relax at the Art House and unwind on the deck and listen to the river after your Barrington tour experience.

Room Information:

Two large ground floor bedrooms, with queen beds, one with an ensuite and walk in robe the other close to a full bathroom with shower and bath. The kitchen is open plan to the living area, fully equiped with all modern conveniences. The lounge has a slow combustion fireplace, tv, stereo and DVD player. Also on the ground floor is a breakfast nook, covered deck with comfortable California chairs and laudry facililty. Up 8 stairs to a loft where there is a library and a double bed for an extra couple or person. Another 8 steps to a large artist studio which has a futon when made up can accommodate another couple. Full occupancy is four couples. As there are open intenal stairs and off the ground decks we suggest our property is not suitable for toddlers.

Children & Extra Guest Policy:

As our home is surrounded by open plan decks it is not advisable for young toddlers. Extra guests are $50 per night and Pet stay is $25 per visit.

Reception Information:

A key will be left at an allocated position with intructions and a full set of keys inside the house.

Car Parking:

There is ample parking at the house. A double garage with three point turn driveway to move cars past each other. Lots of parking adjacent to the park for anyone needing wheel chair access.

Things to do:

The Art House is much loved by bird watchers because of the abundence of different species on the property. There are always resident owls in the trees as well as a variety of parrots and wrens. The river is a less than 50 meters away so mullet and bass are always fun to try and catch. However the summer months are filled with laughter from people enjoying a dip in the flowing water pools. If your dog is vacationing with you they also enjoy a cooling dip in the river. There are two bikes available for anyone who wants to take a jaunt around town. Also a couple of tennis rackets to try out the beautiful courts for hire in the town park. There is a heated olympic size swimming pool also in the park which is open all summer. About 5 klms away is the Gloucester Golf Course.

Getting There:

Most visitors arrive by car but the XPT stops two blocks away twice daily with a taxi facility for pick up if required.
